Diane M. Hartmann, M.D. is the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a graduate of Canisius College in Buffalo and received her Doctor of Medicine degree with Honor from the University of Rochester. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Rochester. As the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education, Dr. Hartmann is responsible for 70 residency and fellowship programs and over 600 graduate medical trainees at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. In 1998, she was named the Glasgow Teaching Scholar at the University of Rochester for excellence as an educator. She received the 1999 Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education and the 1999 Association of Professors of Obstetrics and Gynecology Excellence in Teaching Award. Dr. Hartmann practices general ambulatory gynecology in the University of Rochester's division of gynecologic specialties. She has special clinical expertise in the areas of menopause and geriatric gynecology. She has lectured extensively in these areas. Her work in the care of the older woman was recognized by the American Geriatrics Society as she was awarded a grant by the Hartford Foundation to improve the quality of resident education in this area. Dr. Hartmann is currently on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Obstetrics and serves as an Oral Board Examiner. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a member of the North American Menopause Society, and serves as the Chair of the Education Committee of the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
