Lisa Harris, MD, was born in Oneida, New York, the eldest child and only daughter of the honorable Judge Roy and Mrs. Lucille King.  Dr. Harris attended Monroe Jr. Sr. High School and then furthered her education at the University of Rochester, where she received a B.S. in neurosciences.  Later, she attended Morehouse School of Medicine where she received her medical degree. Her training was completed at the Detroit Medical Center in Detroit, MI.  Dr. Harris is boarded in two specialties, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, allowing her to care for both adult and pediatric populations. Currently, Dr. Harris is in private practice.

Kathy Cole-Kelly, MSW, MS

Kathy Cole-Kelly, MS, MSW is professor of Family Medicine at Case School of Medicine. She is the Director of the Communications in Medicine curriculum at the medical school as well as co-directing the Foundations of Clinical Medicine seminars ON DOCTORING. Ms. Cole-Kelly is a frequent national and international speaker or workshop leader at meetings dedicated to doctor patient communication, medical family interviewing, and addressing the core competencies in medical education. She has been part of several major grant initiatives on doctor patient communication curriculum, most significantly with the Macy Foundation on Healthcare Communication grants both at Case Western School of Medicine and University of Massachusetts School of Medicine. She has been recognized as an outstanding teacher and won the most prestigious teaching award at the medical school, the Kaiser Permanente Outstanding Teacher award that was given to one clinical faculty and one basic science faculty each year.

Ms. Cole-Kelly has published multiple articles in the areas of doctor patient communication and medical family interviewing. She has written many book chapters on these topics and is a contributor to the doc.com interactive educational modules produced by the American Academy of Communication in Healthcare. For 19 years Ms. Cole-Kelly directed the psychosocial curriculum in the Department of Family Medicine at Metrohealth Hospital.

Deborah Friedman, M.D.
Professor, Opthalmology and Neurology

After serving on the faculty at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, Dr. Friedman joined the faculty at the University of Rochester in 2002 where she is Professor of Ophthalmology and Neurology.  She is a Board Certified Neurologist with additional certification in headache medicine and has completed a two year clinical and research fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology.  Currently, she is finishing a Masters in Public Health Degree at the University of Rochester to re-focus her career on clinical research.  Her practice is comprised of neuro-ophthalmic and headache disorders and she participates in clinical trials of migraine treatment.

Dr. Friedman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Headache Society and the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS).  She serves on the Board of Directors and the Education Committee of the American Headache Society and is the President of NANOS.  She is also a member of the American Neurological Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  She has been elected to the "Best Doctors in America" since 1998.

Her publications include over 40 articles in peer-reviewed journals and eight book chapters.  Many of the articles are related to headache disorders including migraine and idiopathic intracranial hypertension. She speaks frequently on these topics at national and international scientific meetings.  She serves as a reviewer for manuscripts on topics of headache and neuro-ophthalmology for such prestigious journals as Neurology, the Lancet, Headache, Cephalalgia, European Journal of Neurology, Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, and the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry.

Dr. Hyman is editor in chief of "Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine", the most prestigious journal in the field of Integrative Medicine, and the Medical Editor of Alternative Medicine, the Art and Science of Healthy Living.  He is the co- author of the New York Times bestselling book published by Scribner, Ultraprevention, the Six Week Plan that Will Make You Healthy for Life, and The Detox Box, A Program for Greater Health and Vitality, recently published by Sounds True, 2004, and The Five Forces of Wellness: The Ultraprevention System for Living an Active, Age-Defying, Disease-Free Life (Nightingale-Conant 2005), NutriGenomics, The New Science of Health (2006).  His latest book is, the New York Times Bestseller, UltraMetabolism, The Simple Plan for Automatic Weight Loss (Scribner March 2006). It focuses on a cutting-edge personalized -- or "nutrigenomic" -- approach to weight loss and metabolism.  A companion PBS pledge special produced by WLIW features this approach.  His latest book, The UltraSimple Diet was just released (Pocket Books March 2007).

A guest on the Today show, Good Morning America, The Early Show, Good Morning American, and The View with Barbara Walters, Dr. Hyman has also appeared on CNN, FOX, PBS, and NPR, as well as many other television and radio stations. He has written for and is quoted regularly in leading consumer magazines including Parade, Elle, Fitness, Glamour, Family Circle, US, Women's World, First for Women, Health, Natural Health, Self, Shape, and Town & Country.

For nearly 10 years, Dr. Hyman was the Co-Medical Director at Canyon Ranch Lenox an internationally acclaimed Health Resort.  He is the founder and Medical Director of the UltraWellness Center in Lenox, Massachusetts.  His website www.ultrawellness.com empowers health care consumers and allowing them to take advantage of the medicine of the future, today. He is on the Board of Advisors and faculty of Food as Medicine, Center for Mind Body Medicine, Georgetown University School of Medicine.  He is also on the Board of Directors and faculty of the Institute for Functional Medicine and collaborates with the Harvard Medical School's Division for Research and Education in Complementary and Integrative Medicine.

Kathleen Farmer, PsyD
Psychologist, Headache Care Center

Dr. Farmer is a psychologist and administrator of the Headache Care Center and Vice President of Education for the Primary Care Network, which is an organization of over 72,000 clinicians linked via the Internet. A Diplomat of the American Academy of Pain Management, she is the co-author of the patient education book Headache Free. She has conducted research in the non-pharmacological treatment of disabling headaches, with special interest in pediatric migraine and cognitive efficiency associated with migraine. She speaks extensively about the therapeutic value of biofeedback for the treatment of chronic disorders and pain. Dr. Farmer was the chair of the Psychology Department of the Shealy Institute for the Comprehensive Management of Pain from 1988 to 1995. She is a graduate of Forest Institute, Springfield, MO.

Melissa Lipani

Melissa Lipani is a rock climber living in Salt Lake City, Utah. She began experiencing retinal migraine aura (manifested as episodes in which she would lose her vision for up to ten minutes in her right eye) without accompanying headaches when she was a teenager. Later in her twenties she began experiencing regular, often debilitating migraine headaches. As a sponsored athlete for climbing companies Five Ten and Revolution, she leads a healthy and active lifestyle and has learned to try to recognize the triggers and utilize effective treatments for her headaches so that she can continue traveling, training, working in the outdoor industry, and climbing at a high level without disruption.
