ACHE was created in 1990 through an initiative of the American Headache Society (AHS), an organization of more than 2,400 physicians, health professionals and research scientists. The Brain Matters, a resource from the American Academy of Neurology Foundation, offers information about common disorders of the brain, including headache, prepared by neurologists, who are doctors with specialized training in diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine is one of the National Institutes of Health. Its website offers information about alternative approaches to treating disease, such as biofeedback training.
